My Unfinished Weekend Project

Well, I didn't finish the kitchen cabinet project this weekend, but I wanted to update you on what I've done so far. I covered the wood pieces to go along the back wall with this wrapping paper I had. I am not sure if I am going to leave it or not. I kinda like it and I kinda hate it. Does that make sense? I like that it brings red over to this side of the room, but it is a busy pattern and may be too much of it in one space. I may put some accessories on the shelves to see how it looks. I have been looking at fabric to possibly change my window treatments in here, so I also have that to consider. I have red walls so I have to work with them 'cause I am not in the mood to paint them at this time. Maybe this project was not a good idea...

I like the idea of open shelving and bringing red into this area. Even though my cabinets are too packed to even consider this nice solution. I think this particular pattern would be a bit too busy for me but it may grow on you. I probably would opt for a white background with thin red stripes or even white background with red polka dots. Have you tried different patterns that you may like better?

I love the paper you chose. I bet that once you get more things in there it will not seem so busy. It's always hard for me to make changes like that. Maybe live with it a few days.

I Love it! It is so cheerful. I just did some open cabinets in my kitchen re-do and I painted the inside of mine. I added bead board and painted it turqouise! I did take out the piece of wood in the middle of the front just to open it all the way. There are pics on my blog.

Hi again Angie! I love it! I think once you add a few accessories you'll be sold too! Pretty paper and great because when you do tire of it you can change easily! Think it brings a coziness to the cabinet! I'm sure you have several beautiful things to use in there!lol Make that I know you have several!!! Jeannette

I like the paper, too, but like you, might find it a little busy. Maybe when you get more stuff in there, it will look different. Either way, it is an awesome idea!

Have a great week.

I actually really like the paper. It is a busy pattern, but since it is only in that one open cabinet, I don't think it is too busy! If it was in every cabinet, I might had a different opinion. I think you should leave it. At least for awhile! ;)

I say put more stuff on the shelves and then decide. You won't see too much of the paper if the shelves are full.

I think it looks wonderful. Once you start filling it with more items it will look even better. I have been wanting to do this with a bookshelf of mine. You have inspired me to go for it.

Have a wonderful week, Nicole

I really like that paper too. I also think that once you get everything displayed in there you may like it better. I can't wait to see it finished!

I, personally, think it looks fabulous! But, I'm also like a moth to a flame when I see red.

Oh I like it! You might have to live with it a minute before you can really decide if you want to keep it.

I really like this. I agree with Stacey, after more things are in the cabinet, it will tone the busyness down. Personally, though, I really like it.

I love, love the stark white against the pattern of the red...feel that it tones the pattern down...neutralizes it more...anyway you did an awesome job!

Not that my vote counts, but I LOVE it. I've been trying to get to a project like that for a long time.
Your backyard is so lush and beautiful and I loved the idea of the plate in the planter.

I like the red and cutting boards to put it on is a great idea. I would have just put it straight on the back of my cabinets and regretted it later. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
