Yard Sale Finds

I'm joining Rhoda at Southern Hospitality and many others again today to show our thrifty finds. I went to some yard sales on Saturday and found a few things. I got the gold pedestal piece, bird, topiary, bunny, and 3 bunny plaques and the total I spent was $6.25. Pretty good for some darn cute stuff if I do say so myself!

White Vase

I bought this white vase recently at a yard sale and have it sitting on my kitchen sink ledge. It did have some flowers from my yard in it and now it has some clippings from a fern. I told my husband that I always wanted something to be in it. In other words, "If you see it empty you had better get me some flowers!". I don't think he got the hint 'cause it sat empty for a few days. The interesting thing about this vase was it had chicken wire stuck down in it to serve as a floral frog to hole the stems. I thought that was a great idea and intend to do that to other containers, whether to hold fake or real plants. Happy Thursday to you!!!

A Different Arrangement Above the Couch

I changed out the print above my couch and also took down the plates and hung an iron piece. I have had that iron piece for a few years and it has been up in my attic. I really like it between the shutters. I'm not sure I like the print in that light colored frame though. I may have to age it a little more to darken it. I have been thinking about hanging something on each shutter, like a wall pocket or lamp sconce. Any ideas?

Tray Backdrop

I just love this little corner on my kitchen counter between my stove and sink. I am always changing it out 'cause it's so easy and doesn't take much thought or accessories. I thought it needed kind of a backdrop so I got one of my yard sale trays (I have lots), spray painted it black, and just taped on a piece of polka dot scrapbook paper. I think I am liking it. Y'all know me - definitely not a minimalist! I like pattern and lots of stuff. Hope you have a great Monday!

New Rooster Lamp

This lamp that I bought recently with some birthday money was a bit of a splurge for me. It was regularly $60 and I got it for $40 because it had a hole on one side. I don't know about you, but forty bucks is A LOT to spend on one item. But, it is very nice and large and I adore it! I am glad that I got it. Hey, you gotta treat yourself every once in a while, right?!

Fleur de Lis Lampshade

A few of you asked about the fleur de lis shade on the lamp on yesterday's post. I bought the shade on clearance at Target. It had blue and white plaid trim and I hot glued some red trim over it. Then I thought it needed something else so I used a fleur de lis stencil and traced it on some animal print felt from Hobby Lobby. I cut it out and hot glued it on. I'm sure regular fabric would work fine too. I like the felt though because it doesn't ravel like unsewn fabric does. I got the idea from a magazine in which felt shapes were glued to a pillow. I have been meaning to do that too. Wouldn't the fleur de lis or an initial be so cute on a pillow? Oooooh, I feel a new project coming on!

$1 Lamp Transformed

I showed y'all this lamp already that I got for $1 at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I painted it black, added a shade I had, and it now sits on top of my pie safe in my dining room. I had a smaller lamp up there and this one looks much better. I love turning this on at night so I can see in my dining room from my kitchen. Have a great Monday everybody!

Some Pictures While Out and About

I love to ride around and look at beautiful homes and yards to drool and also get some ideas. I had my camera and took a few pictures the other day I thought I'd share with you.

Love the yellow screen door with the greenery on and around it, also love the benches and dogs on either side of the walkway

Bench on the front porch with cute pillows, love the initial one in the middle

Bench in the front yard with the black and white pillows, love the polka dots

Totally love everything about this house, white with black shutters, beautiful urns and gate to welcome people

Same house, love the black screen door and painted house numbers in cursive

This would be the type of house I would build or buy if I had my choice, love everything - the front porch with the rockers and plants, urns with ferns in them, greenery growing on the fronts of the steps, gorgeous landscaping

Hope y'all have had a good week and will have a great weekend!

Tray/Vignette and a Few Yard Sale Finds

Here is the tray I bought last weekend at a yard sale for $1. I spray painted it black and added a placemat in the bottom and some accessories. I am loving trays so much I want to have them everywhere!

I didn't buy much at yard sales this weekend. I got the 2 wreath topiaries for $1 each, the small chalkboard for $1, and the large chalkboard for 25 cents.

Happy Monday to you!!!

My Passion for Plates

I, like so many of you, have a passion for plates. They are so inexpensive (the ones I buy are) and look great hung on a wall, on a plate rack, or standing on a easel. I have shown many of these before and have posted about this a while back so this is kind of a repeat. Hey, I needed something to post so I hope you don't mind! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Here are a few more yard sale finds I didn't show on Monday. I got 2 rattan birdcages for $1, big black frame for $2, and the lamp (minus the shade) for $1. Now I just have to find places to put everything I bought!
