A few of you asked about the fleur de lis shade on the lamp on yesterday's post. I bought the shade on clearance at Target. It had blue and white plaid trim and I hot glued some red trim over it. Then I thought it needed something else so I used a fleur de lis stencil and traced it on some animal print felt from Hobby Lobby. I cut it out and hot glued it on. I'm sure regular fabric would work fine too. I like the felt though because it doesn't ravel like unsewn fabric does. I got the idea from a magazine in which felt shapes were glued to a pillow. I have been meaning to do that too. Wouldn't the fleur de lis or an initial be so cute on a pillow? Oooooh, I feel a new project coming on!

I just had to tell you how much I love your blog! You have given me some great ideas and hopefully when I am out thrifting I can look at items at what they could be and not what they are! Wonderful blog and even better ideas!
That is one gorgeous lamp! I never would have thought to use felt instead of fabric for something like this, but it makes perfect sense. Love it!
Thanks for explaining it! That's a very cute idea. I've seen the pillows done with those cutouts but it never occurred to me to try it on anything else!
