My New Star

I bought this animal print looking star from Hobby Lobby on Sat. and am trying to decide if I love it or not. I love it, but I'm not sure if I love it hanging on this window on my mantel. I am going to do what I want of course, but I still like to hear your opinions. Ignore the rest of the stuff because I'm just getting started on it. I know there needs to be some sort of softness up there, like some greenery or something. Remember I love French country, but I also think some animal print thrown in is cool. The shades on the lamps are a red and white/cream toile. Tell me what you think.

Well, I really like it! I just love looking at anything on your mantel because of the red painted brick behind it.

I think it looks great against the red brick. A little black and a little animal print can go along way in a room!

I have little touches of animal print thrown in around my house too. I like it. Adds some funk. Great work.

Love it! Adds another interesting texture up there. I just love the brick painted red. That really sets off everything so well on the mantle. Can't wait to see the final product! Animal prints are so fun!

I love the whole arrangement! But I think it would also look great with some greenery added.

Animal print is always fun for a little unexpected "flavor". Live with it for a while, but I think it looks fun!

The star is great. I would try to incorporate more browns on the mantle. Maybe switch out the stark white plates for a white and brown pattern. Maybe some type of toile or damask print. You could also put some tree branches in some type of flower pots on either end of the mantle. Deana

I like it Angie. Very unexpected hanging up there. I think it adds just the texture and interest that it needs up there. It looks great! I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the mantle!

I really like it. I think a touch of animal print gives any room a bit of drama anyway, but this large star on the window is something unexpected and that what makes it so interesting and FUN!

I love it! I also looovve Hobby Lobby's 1/2 off sale ;) You could do a little rub-on embellishment to the plates to tie it all together..but they way you have it... very chic, love it :)

Alright, here are my .02 and that is what it's worth. I love the star but not the print for your decor. I would love to see it painted black. I also love the lamps and plates and would love to see you put some lettering on the plates. Otherwise, it all looks great, as usual.

What if you painted the window panes black? Or at least the frame? Just a thought.... Jennifer
