From the dumpster to my den

The pictures below show a piece I have in my den/living room. I wish I had a before picture to show you. My husband and I got it out of a dumpster at an apartment building in a city we used to live in. I can't remember if it was actually in the dumpster or sitting beside it. Oh well, anyway, it used to be white and in not so good a shape. My handy husband is good at remaking pieces so he added a new top and beadboard to the sides and molding all around the top and bottom. He painted it black and I stenciled fleur de lis (how do you write the plural?) on the drawers and added new knobs. It turned out cute and would work in any room if I wanted to move it somewhere else. The drawers provide a lot of storage which I always need more of. I had been thinking about repainting it in a gold color to match with other things in the room, but I'm not sure.

I always walk around my house and can think of things to do to improve or change the decor. Do you do that? I haven't been very motivated or creative lately. But, I get inspired when I look at my favorite blogs and see what other people accomplish. I usually have so many things I want to do that I don't know which project to start with. Well, I'm going to go now and try to get inspired. Have a terrific Tuesday!!!

I love the table/cabinet. It's great to have something like to for extra storage. It looks so pretty!

Hi Angie!
Another thing we have in common ... we love cast offs! :o) I did a little dumpster diving in my time too! Smile! :o) You did a wonderful job at restoring your furniture. It reminds me of a piece that you would find in a very trendy upscale shop!
