A few weekend projects

I did a few projects this weekend. I did Joy's project from Joys of Home, Under Five Minutes and Under Five Dollars. I would link you to her, but I don't know how to do that yet. I'll have to get my computer savvy husband to show me. Joys of Home is an AWESOME blog with easy and cheap (my two favorite adjectives) projects to do. The project was an initial plaque. I did one for my son's room.

I painted a wooden plaque, modpodged some scrapbook paper onto it, painted a wooden letter, and then glued it on. It think it cost me around $3 and took less than five minutes. I love those kinds of projects! I also created a new vignette on my fleur de lis piece in my living room (see the post entitled From the dumpster to my den).

I have been looking at other blogs to get ideas on arranging things on tables and creating pretty groupings. I have trouble with that. I like it when accessories are layered and at different heights. Some people just have a knack for it. Another thing I did was I went with a friend to a scrapbooking weekend event and had a great time. Some people were there all weekend, we only went on Saturday. I am a beginning scrapbooker while my friend has been doing it for a few years. She probably has close to ten thick albums she's done and they are so cute. I wasn't sure if I should get into it or not, but now I know I enjoy it and like the idea that I'm creating something I'll keep for the rest of my life. Let me know if any of you out there scrapbook and have any tips for me since I'm new to it. I hope you had a super weekend and will have a great Monday!

I love to scrapbook. I am sure you already got a paper trimmer if you have gone to a crop night. Ummmm I always get my adhesive at the dollar store wayyy cheaper that way. If you scan back in my archives you can see some of my work. I really consider it an art....some woman do such incredible things. Your vignette is looking great. cherry

Angie,
I am so glad you visited me so I could find you!!! You have given me so many ideas from just this first page!! I can't wait to have time to look at your older posts. Of course, your plaque for your son's room is precious. I think I might do some for Christmas gifts. I've always wanted a screen door for my laundry room. I'm going to keep looking....everything is something that I love. I am going to mark this site as a favorite.

Great job on the plaque, and your new arrangement looks very nice. I find that I have a hard time getting it just right.

Hi Angie, Boy you have been busy since my last visit! Sorry that I haven't been around, I was tied up with In-laws. I love your style, it reminds me of Ballard Designs catalog. Have you ever seen it? It's beautiful and pricey and I can never afford anything unless it's in the clearance section! You are very creative and talented and have a great hubby too, always looking out for things for you. The screen door is great! Looks so cute. Do you have an Ikea near you? They usually have large glass canisters & organizational stuff on the cheap (not that your pantry looks messy! but I know you said you wanted to add some cute baskets & stuff!)Every little vignette looks great, I don't think you have a hard time at it at all, quite the opposite! I'll be back soon. Thanks for stopping by to visit me too. ~ Laurie

Your 5 minute project looks great! Your table also looks very nice. I have a hard time grouping things together too, especially on shelves. Hope you have a great day!

I love the vintage looking paper you used for your project.

Your table arrangement looks very nice. I often have a difficult time too so it always helps to see pictures to get ideas.
