Board and Batten Shutters

My husband surprised me on my birthday last week by making these board and batten shutters for my kitchen window. I had talked to him about it a while back, but had really kind of scrapped the idea and forgotten about it. Well, he remembered and made them. Doesn't that just mean so much when your man actually listens to you and wants to make you happy? I got me a good one for sure. I think I am finally satisfied with the color, but I may still glaze them some. I painted them a light green first and didn't really like it. Then I tried a darker green and didn't really like it either. Then I dry brushed the light green on top of the darker green and got the somewhat aged look I like. I am not good with paint finishes like some of y'all are. I am not patient and just want to finish. I think they are pretty cute and it feels so cozy sitting there at the table. Happy Friday and weekend to y'all!!!

Oh, yeah, he's definitely a keeper, Angie! What a great job and I love that he remembered. Have you tried any of those Valspar glazes? I see them mentioned on other blogs when they want to "age" paint. I have not tried it myself yet, but it's on my list for the next Home Depot trip!
