"Prettied Up" Lampshades

Well, the hutch is back in the kitchen until I decide what color to paint it. I am thinking a green or yellow color and then distressed and aged a lot with a glaze. I have seen furniture like that online and love how it looks. The question is will I be able to achieve that same look myself. I just can't do white. It is so clean looking and pretty, but I already have so much white here in the kitchen and really want the warm French country look. I would like to age my white cabinets, but am so scared they'll turn out looking dirty and gross. OK, back to the hutch. I bought these 2 lamps as a set at Kirklands, but didn't like the small brown shades that came on them. I got these 2 plain white shades at Ross for $1.99 each and knew I could recover them. Ross is a great place to get lampshades and they are usually like $5 or less. I hot glued on some fabric and trim I already had and love how they look now sitting on the hutch. I think they have that French country look. Hope you are having a great Monday!

Love the red and white check, Angie! Looking at the lampshades, what about a red for the hutch?

Angie!!! I am soooo happy and proud of you girl! Six pounds is truly fantastic! Yeah! I KNOW you can achieve your fitness goals whatever they are. I'm still working at it and I am not giving up. I'm *almost* there and to be honest this is the hardest part of the entire journey. It feels wonderful to be healthy again! I'm feeling grateful and blessed these days.

Love the new lamps and shades! What a perfect mix of the bronze base and a warm feel to the red fabric. You are good at this! Your hutch is going to be gorgeous in either green or yellow. Very pretty choices!

Thank you for your sweet visit!
~Melissa :)

Love the shades! I had mentioned red for the hutch, but ochre or green sounds great with a glaze. For the bookcase I just finished a few posts back I used a green called Artifact from Sherwin Williams and then rubbed on a glaze from Lowes..Valspar in umber.

They look fantastic!!!! I love covering lampshades! I have a collection of shades in my basement (it's a sickness I tell you, lol) for when I feel the urge to do a "redo" on one, lol!
I could see your hutch painted green!! Also red would look fantastic too! You know, call me crazy but I like it just the way it is! It's a nice rustic look with all your pretties on it! Love your home! :)

The lamp shades are so cute! I love the lamp bases, too!

I have seen two comments now about painting the hutch red...your table set does look fabulous in red, and maybe your hutch would, too? I know whatever you do will turn out great!

Have a beautiful day! :)
