This is what is going on at my house on this very cold day today. I am getting my Christmas present installed - a new front door! I am finally getting rid of my double doors and getting one door with decorative sidelites. It has always been such a pain to have to have/make 2 of everything to decorate the front doors and I am thrilled to have ONE door now! I am planning on painting it red like my other doors because y'all know I love red. I'll show you more later when it gets finished. Have a wonderful Wed. and try to stay warm!

I'm sure it will look great - but I have to say those double red doors are too cute!
I can commiserate with you on making two of everything. I did that for years...though it had stunning results...but am glad to have the one larger door now.
My hubby has always wanted double front doors. We did the single door with sidelights in our house after we moved in as consolation, because we have baseboard heating {that was the only baseboard heating} in our foyer so we had to leave it alone. Can't wait to see what it looks like done!
It is going to look fabulous!! Can't wait to see it!! Though I like the double doors, one will look GREAT!!

Can't wait to see that new door...what a great way to start off the new year! My hubs has come around with the idea that I have had for a new door...I'm sure it will be March before we get it done.
Blessings,

It's freezing here today in South Florida, so I cannot imagine how cold those poor guys are! Can't wait to see the new door! Give 'em some hot chocolate and they'll be okay:)
Good luck! Hopefully all goes well with the install. Can't wait to see the new pictures when it's done!
yay! Good for you. I know these have been a pain in the butt. Can't wait to see them installed!

Oh but I love the double doors! I'm sure having sidelights will be nice - I've always wanted them to let in more light into the foyer. Can't wait to see it all done!

If our door wasn't over 100 years old and stained I would sooo paint it red! Can't wait to see the finished door!!
Well, now I don't feel silly cause I got a fence for Christmas. You can relate! Of course it should be red!

How exciting even if it is cold! Can't wait to see the end result. Stay warm.

Oh, Angie, I know what you mean. It's funny, one of the things that originally sold me on our house was the double front door. It seemed so "grand". Now, 16 years later, I hate it!!! One of the biggest reason is one you've mentioned - making two of everything. The only redeemable thing about our doors is we do have sidelights, not decorative mind you, but windows just the same. Maybe one day I'll be able to get rid of mine.
Can't wait to see the finished project!
Can't wait to see it!!

Oh, how exciting! I can't wait to see what it looks like! :) I am so happy for you~ getting something done on your house is always so fun! :)
Can't wait to see the finished project. LOVE the new curtains in the kitchen. Gorgeous fabric. Mimi
I really like your double doors, but understand about wanting change. Making two of everything would take time. I sure your new one will look beautiful. Can wait to see your reveal?
I had a great time visiting your blog.
Blessings in 2010!
I think it will look wonderful either way.... but the side lights are always so charming. Making wreaths can get pricey anyway, and to have to double that would be a pain in the tahookie. I can't wait to see how it turns out!!
How exciting.....I'm sure the new door will look wonderful!
Happy New Year from Houston!
So glad you are getting the new front door you've always wanted. Can't wait to see before and after pictures.
I like the double doors alot, so I am interested to see what you put in.
I really like both of the wreath's on the front doors.
