Footboard into Chalkboard

This is my latest project that I am so happy about. I totally copied this from ones I saw on other blogs so I cannot take credit for the great idea. I had this footboard left over from a bed I got for $7 from Goodwill. I used the headboard on my guest bedroom bed (click here to see) and decided to make a chalkboard out of the footboard. It is hanging over the desk in my kitchen. I love it! It's so much fun doing a cheap and easy project like this one and have it actually turn out right. Happy Monday and 1st day of Fall to y'all!

I once made a bench settee from a headboard and footboard that was left over at a garage sale and they were giving away!
Gotta love FREE!!

I want to thank you. My mother has AZD and I had to quit my job in the workplace. My husband was injured in Iraq and I take care of both of them. I live far, far out in the sticks and going to town is a major effort. With the demands on my time I have few friends. I look forward to your blog and check it every single day, for new ideas and inspiration, and projects to make our home a wonderful place and respite for my soul. You truly are a bright spot in my life.
Thank you again
Heather

A friend sent me a link to this because I've talked about something similar, only using an antique door or something- this is much lighter and do-able! I think I'm going to try it, with the addition of the knobs (so I can hang pretty things from them!) but I was wondering: How did you attach it to your wall? It could be pretty heavy. Do you have time to let me know? I would so appreciate it- thank you! You are inspiring!

Angie,

I have a red kitchen & breakfast den & a gold living room, so I've very much enjoyed browsing your blog.

I used chalkboard paint when my kids were children (now 27 - 40) but never would have thought of this use on the headboard! Ingenious! And very lovely too!
