I am happily married with a wonderful husband, a precious four year old son, and two sweet dogs. I love to decorate my house and am always looking for inexpensive projects to tackle. My smart and handy husband always seems to get involved whether he wants to or not. I love to shop and go to yard sales with my mom to find really good deals. I am so blessed to be able to stay at home (my most favorite place to be) and take care of my family.
I haven't been posting much lately because I feel I have nothing good to show. Do y'all ever feel that way? I haven't been doing anything creative. I have a long list of things I want to do, but just haven't been in the mood to get started on anything. I have also kind of been kind of confused about my decor lately, like sometimes I love it and other times I want to change everything. Maybe it's because I went to a tour of homes and saw the most gorgeous homes! I am talking FABULOUS!!! I don't get jealous, well maybe a little, when I see these houses because they are ones I could never afford and some are too big in my opinion. I actually would rather see normal houses that I can relate to, but it is fun to see how some people live. I saw some beautiful and eclectic decor and got some good ideas. I would have loved to take a ton of pictures, but I don't think you are supposed to so I didn't.
I have had this architectural piece for a long time and finally just got it out and sat it on top of this picture in my living room until I can find a better home for it. I change these frames out with scrapbook paper and calendar prints when I want something different to look at.
I hung a new picture and some plates in my kitchen. I bought the print at Hobby Lobby, already had the frame. I have a good many large frames that I keep up in my attic and then just buy cheap prints to go in them. You can get some good frames, any size, at yard sales and of course spray paint them the color you want. Then get cute prints at HL or Michaels when they're on sale or with a coupon.
I am still lightening up things in my kitchen for Spring/Summer. I changed a few things around and on my desk. I put a white shade on my bunny lamp, made a little flower arrangement, sat out a white frame, hung a silver tray, painted 2 frames, and recovered the picture mats. I love making small changes without having to go out shopping. Have a good night y'all!
Here is where I put my pie safe in the dining room. The bench that was here is now in the kitchen with my table. At first I thought it would look weird, but I really love the change! I don't want my dining room to be formal looking because I definitely don't have a formal house. So, I have been trying to make it flow with the kitchen and have the same type of look. I told you I have been trying to lighten things up so I changed out my red curtains for these Waverly ones with roses on them. I think the pattern is called Vintage Rose and it is one of my favorites. I have these same curtains in my bedroom. The last picture shows some old plates I have hanging above the window. I just love plates hanging on a wall! I know lots of you do too! Hope y'all are having gorgeous weather like we are here. Enjoy the rest of your day!!!
I have been working on lightening up my kitchen by adding white/cream things. I guess because it is Spring that I am wanting more of a lighter, fresher look. I cleared off all the accessories on my two shelves and redid them. I used a frame I had and put some scrapbook paper and a little nest in it like I saw at The Nesting Place and on other blogs. I am working on other areas that I'll be showing you too. Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!
Here's the Spring arrangement I have on my dining room table. I still stick to my colors when decorating any time of year. Pastels just don't go with my decor. I have had this ivy plate rack since I first got married - almost 12 years ago. I have had it up in my attic for years and decided to get it down and use it. I'm glad I didn't get rid of it because I am loving it again! I haven't really put out Easter stuff this year, just bunnies, birds, nests, eggs - things that say Spring. I like it because I can leave these things out through the summer if I want. Most of my bunnies actually stay out all year because I just love them and they make me happy! Isn't that why we decorate our homes, to make ourselves and our family feel good? Have a great day!!!
My family and I went to Cashiers, North Carolina on Friday and got back home last night. We had a great time and saw some beautiful scenery. The mountains and waterfalls are absolutely gorgeous! I am doing laundry today and just enjoying being back home. I truly am a major homebody!!! I'll be back tomorrow with some decorating stuff. Have a great afternoon and night!
I have made a few changes in my kitchen over the last week or so. I moved my green pie safe out (I'll show that another day) and brought in my bench and column that was in the dining room. I am using the bench at the table instead of one of the chairs and I angled the table and put the column behind it. I brought in my metal trellis piece from outside and hung it on the wall along with 2 painted canvases and 2 rooster plates. I already had all of this stuff and just brought it in from other places. I am enjoying the change and feel like I have a new eating area. Hope you are having a great week!
