I am so excited to show y'all the new vent hood my wonderful husband made for me. It may be my most favorite project he has ever done. You can see there were 2 small cabinet doors over the stove before. He took them off and used beadboard and molding to cover the metal hood and cabinet openings. He redid the electrical stuff so now the buttons for the fan and light are on the right hand side. I aged it with glaze like the beadboard backsplash. I know my cabinets are white and not aged too, but I like the contrast and wanted the hood to stand out and look old. I moved my new clock out of the dining room and have it leaning on the ledge of the hood. It definitely makes a statement 'cause it is so large. I will have fun changing out what I put up there like a tray, picture, wreath, iron piece...lots of possibilities. Hope y'all are having a great week!

Very clever - it looks beautiful!
I'm looking for vent hood ideas! I'm making a note of yours for sure.
I think it looks great with the glaze -- being different from the rest of your cabinets.
That looks fabulous! He did an awesome job.
Angie, he did an awesomely stupendous job. I love the huge clock up there, too. I use to have a big clock on mine and may put it back. Some folks on rms did not like it too much. Pooey on them.
Ooooo, very nice!

He did a beautiful job, Angie! I love it! The clock looks great there and I think you can have a lot of fun decorating that area.
WOW! That is AMAZING! He did a fantastic job on it, and I love how you aged it like your bead board. The contrast between the cabinets and bead board is wonderful, too. :)
That's awesome! Lucky you.
That so works! I'd love to know how he got the buttons onto the right side, though, instead of on the front...maybe you could get Mr HappyHomebody to give the husbands a 'how I did it and made my wife ecstatically happy in the process"?
Please?
LOL
Looks beautiful. The hood (and backsplash) all looks lovely. I do have one question. Does your husband complain that the finish makes it look dirty? My husband seems to think that everything I've done with a glaze/distressing finish just looks old and dirty...and it's not! I'm just wondering if you've had to work around that, or no?
Thanks for sharing the pics...lots to love in your house!
It looks fantastic Angie! Kudos to you hubby. :)
That is just magnificent Ang! You and your hubby's creativeness never cease to amaze me!

What a great project! I'd love for you to share this on Modern Craftswoman Monday! Rory
It looks fantastic! Why oh why do they put those stupid little doors up there? Who on earth uses them? Not me. I forget they're there. A nuisance that could be put to better use. A man must have designed that "feature" in homes.

Looks wonderful!!! he did a very nice job!

Love the gorgeous vent hood with the clock! Dang, I wish my husband was handy that way!!! :)
Wow! What a wonderful difference that makes - LOVE.IT! Linda
Oh my gosh, that is gorgeous! Completely steps up the look in your already adorable kitchen. Great job!
Your hubby is pretty talented. I would have never even thought that could be done. We ended up putting a microwave/stove vent above our stove but I wish I would have seen this first. Oh well, at least I don't have my microwave taking up counter space anymore. Yours looks great!
OMGoodness, it looks wonderful. He did a great job.
OH MY GOD THAT LOOKS SO FABULOUS. I MEAN IT. I WANT ONE TOO.. I AM GOING TO SHOW MY HUBS. I LOVE IT. AND LOVE THE CLOCK ON IT.. LUCKY GIRL.. MISHELLE
How did he do that. I have the same set-up in my kitchen and I would LOVE to have a vent like that!
The Range Hood is BEAUTIFUL!!! I would love to know just a little more about how he made it, like EVERYTHING!!! Seriously, we just moved into an old farm house, and our stove is just sitting in this huge kitchen with nothing over top of it, and I think yours is GORGEOUS!!! PLEASE SHARE, even if it's a private message to me, I would love to have a little more "direction" to know what i can go get at Lowe's or how hard the carpentry project part of this would be.....WOW now I'm completely stoked!!! AND I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! Thanks Angie :)
Your home is so cozy!!!
That looks awesome! It takes it above and beyond the standard kitchen. The clock is the icing on the cake. Beautiful!
I love that vintage clock.
