I made this valance last night for our bathroom. And by made I am talking using the hot glue gun, not the sewing machine. I've had a thing lately for animal print so you'll be seeing it on some future projects I'm sure. I like the funkiness (is that a word?) it gives to things. I know lots of folks will say that red and white check fabric and animal print ribbon just don't match. And...not they don't, but I think it looks cool. Hope y'all have a wonderful Wednesday! Looking forward to going to a fall festival at church tonight with my husband and son!

My Attempt at Painting
I saw this picture of a painted pear in the Christmas with Southern Living 2005 book and loved it. So, I thought I'd try to see if I could paint one myself. I think I did o.k. for a total non-artist. I may do another one and make the pear larger and cover more of the canvas like the one in the book. I just love the green color and want to incorporate more of it around my house. Hope y'all had a good weekend! Have a great Monday!

Dining Room Table Arrangement and a Pumpkin Topiary
Here is the fall arrangement I have on my dining room table. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Just put some things on a tray and stuck flowers and leaves all around it. I was going to put a runner underneath, but decided not to.
I think I talked about my pumpkin topiary last year, but somebody asked about it so I'll explain how I made it again. I just took one of those craft pumpkins, cut a hole in the bottom with a knife, and stuck a dowel rod in it. I had already cut the dowel rod to the length I wanted and painted it brown. Then I put some floral bricks in a pot and stuck the topiary in. I covered the bricks with leaves and also added a bow and scarecrow.
Hope y'all had a good Monday! Have a great night!

Backdoor Fall Decorations
Here are some of the fall decorations at my backdoor, which is where we come and go. I try to remember to turn on the lamp and jack-o-lantern each night before my hubby comes home from work so he can see it. He may not say anything, but I know he likes it! The initial on the big pumpkin is from a piece of felt. I traced a wooden T on it and cut it out. I didn't even glue it, just used sticky tack. I have been wanting to paint some polka dots on a pumpkin, but haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Hope y'all have a great Thursday!

New/Old Piece in the Kitchen
I moved this piece (antique desk/dresser?) the other day from my dining room into the kitchen. I got it last year for $5 at a yard sale. Isn't that crazy?! I am going to leave it in its original wood finish because I already have a lot of painted wood in my house. It is in great condition. I am thinking I need to put a tension rod and some cute fabric in the opening. I love having something new to put more stuff on, of course! Hope you are having a great week so far!
