New/Old Piece in the Kitchen

I moved this piece (antique desk/dresser?) the other day from my dining room into the kitchen. I got it last year for $5 at a yard sale. Isn't that crazy?! I am going to leave it in its original wood finish because I already have a lot of painted wood in my house. It is in great condition. I am thinking I need to put a tension rod and some cute fabric in the opening. I love having something new to put more stuff on, of course! Hope you are having a great week so far!

That's a lovely piece! If you decide against the fabric, you might be able to put a tall basket in there also. You are always doing amazing things!

That is such a nice find for $5! Everything I find in that ranges is seriously distressed to say the least.

Great idea. I have one almost like it in my shed. I have sent the boys after it and I am going to paint it. Thanks for all of your great decorating ideas.

Great piece! Even though I paint everything I still think the natural look is best on this one!

What a sweet piece! It seems to fit so nicely in that spot, too. The wood look gives a warm feeling for this time of year.

I've got a desk (dressing table) almost identical to that, but it has an oval mirror attached to it. The wood is beat up, so I'm thinking about painting it white. But I never thought of using it outside my guest room...great idea.

$5.00 for that piece? Craziness! Good find! It looks great in its new home and I totally agree about not painting it. It is in beautiful condition.

You always find fabulous deals! Looks great!

I was going to ask you how you stood your post up. I happened upon one at a garage sale last week. I see in your photo you have something attached to the bottom of yours. What is it that you put on yours so that it stands up?

Looks good in its new home. I remember reading what a great deal you got when you found it! wow!
I'm out and about reconnecting with my blogging buddies that I missed so much while I was MIA. Hope all is well with you and yours!

I think you made a good decision not to paint it. For second-hand furniture, I use those furniture "pens" to touch up scratches on wood.

Wow, What a steal! I love it. More display space is always a plus!
